Bay News Network, Visakhaptnam: Moving of vehicles on VUDA Kailasagiri ghat road in will be closed for 10 days from Wednesday. Tourists visiting Kailasagiri, will have temporary inconvenience for 10 days due to work being taken up for widening of a curve on the ghat road to make vehicle passage more comfort and hurdle free. Steps way from Rope Way junction will also remain closed as it passes through the above curve, keeping the safety of the visitors.
The Vice Chairman of VUDA Kona Sasidhar said the ghat road as well as the steps way would be closed for 10 days from August 1, in spite of huge revenue loss to VUDA.
Kailasagiri has been attracting tourists all over the world andearning image to the city of destiny in the world tourism map. The hill park developed by VUDA has a ghat road for moving of vehicles from down to top and one steps way for pedestrians. The ghat road with a length of about 2.0 km has three curves among which the gliding point curve almost at the top is very narrow and appears like hairpin.
The Kailasagiri ghat road has three curves from down to top and widening at two curves has already been completed. As the hair pin curve at gliding point require very scientific method and work execution for widening, delay took place in taking decision and now as the strategy has been arrived, the Vice Chairman ordered for taking up the work.
Kailasagiri is visited every day by thousands of tourists earning a revenue of Rs.25,000/- to Rs.40,000/- per day depending on season. It became a must-see destination for those coming to Visakhapatnam.
However, though the ghat road and steps way remain closed for 10 days, the Rope Way will function without any interruption.
The Vice Chairman directed the Chief Engineer of VUDA I Viswanadha Rao to execute the works for widening of the curve on ghat road and complete within the given time, to avoid inconvenience to the tourists.
