Bay News Network, Visakhapatnam: The Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) which has been instrumental in designing and developing the Varunastra, Maareech and Fire Control System (FCS) and handed over to the Indian Navy is a great boost to the Make in India Programme, Project Director Ship Building Centre Vice Admiral K.O. Thakare said. He was speaking at the 47th Lab Raising Day of NSTL here on Thursday. He gave away awards to scientists for their performance on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Outstanding Scientist and Director of NSTL C.D. Malleswar spoke on the need to change the way one works to adapt to the changing environment. He emphasised on the need for collective, focused efforts from NSTL to overcome the challenges as the Lab transits from the tactical to strategic domain. Later, Vice Admiral K.O.Thakare gave away the following Awards: Laboratory Scientist of the year Award-2015 (Rs. 25,000 each) Scientist ‘F’ M Vijaya, Scientist-D Sourav Majumdar. Technology Group Award-2015 (Rs. 50,000 for the team), Rubber Technology Team to Team Leader: Scientist D Pradeep Kumar. Laboratory Award for Defence Research & Technical Cadre (DRTC) (Rs.10,000 each): TO-B G Simhachalam, STA-B PDSN Raju. Laboratory Award for Administrative and Allied Categories (Rs.10,000 each): stores officer Bh.S.Ganeswara Rao and accounts officer P Swetha. Commendation Certificates: Scientist-D Y Gangaraju, technical officer-C M Babu Rao and technician-C PSR Varma. Commendation Certificate from DG (ATVP), New Delhi (Rs.7,500) to technical officer-A M Venkata Rao.
